February is Black History Month and thus we get this striking shoe from Nike, the Kobe VII System BHM! The multi-color pattern engulfs most of the shoe from its shoe-liner to its semi-translucent sole. As with other “BHM” models, the branding in the tongue stands out. Hideo Nomo has a special place in baseball history, being one of the first Japanese players to make the permanent move to the US and thus opening the door for a wave of subsequent MLB transplants. Of course he also has a special place in sneaker history, having one of the only baseball centric signature shoes to really make a splash outside of the Griffey line. So when Nike Sportswear decided to crank things up with the Griffey releases, it was only fair that the Nike Air Max NM got a little love as well. And that in turn has become quite a lot a of love, with OG colorways and retro versions alike. The latest is the black and white pair here, with the jewled center swoosh coming in university gold.

This Saturday, January 28 at their Inglewood location, a variety of flavor encompassing the lifestyle of sneaker enthusiasts will be the first showcase of many throughout 2012. City natives and long time customers, Cali Swag District will be performing their new singles “She Gettin’ It” and “Burn Out” accompanied with CD’s, autograph signings and photos with fans.

Other live performances include emerging artists from 319 Music Group; Young Maestro, Mr. Smith, Lovey Jean and the fresh sound of unsigned talent, Tahoe. Generous giveaways will be provided by The Hundreds, Sneaktip and Nike, who will also have an exclusive preview of their latest basketball kicks on display.
